I have been a casual climber for around 7 years. I live in Dallas, TX so there isn't much outdoor climbing close by. I would take weekend trips to different crags when I would get the chance but was stuck around the easy 5.11 range when it came to sport climbing. I decided to read through "How to Climb 5.12" and truly try to apply all the advice and knowledge contained within. After training and applying not only the physical preparation, but the mental preparation described in the book, I felt that leading an outdoor 5.12 was finally possible. When I was able to take the trip to do some outdoor climbing, I was hoping to climb my first 5.12 and ended up climbing four different 12's over the weekend! I am excited to up my level of difficulty in the future by continuing to apply everything that I have learned from this excellent resource.
