Latest Collagen Research Impresses!

It's been 7 years since we began R & D of the PhysiVāntage flagship product, Supercharged Collagen. I'm humbled by the many success stories from recreational and professional athletes alike, who have become daily users of our unique and peerless Supercharged Collagen formula. Collagen peptide powder has become one of the world's most popular supplements for a good reason: It works!

In addition to the foundational research on collagen/gelatin supplementation published in 2008-2020, there is a growing number of new peer-reviewed studies published in the past few years that support the efficacy of collagen supplementation, particularly when combined with training.

  1. Vitamin C-enriched collagen supplementation improved the rate of force development (RFD) with strength training more than the placebo training group, as determined via a double-blinded parallel study by researchers at UC Davis and the Canadian Sports Institute, Calgary.
  2. In a randomized, placebo-controlled study, conducted by a multinational (Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Norway) team of sports scientists demonstrated that collagen peptides combined with resistance training is associated with greater tendon hypertrophy and stiffness than with resistance training alone.
  3. Meta-analysis study outcomes demonstrate that 15 grams/day of collagen supplementation increased collagen synthesis rates, improving joint functionality, reducing joint pain, and improving muscle recovery.
  4. A Review Paper published in the Journal of Experimental Orthodaedics, concluded that proper nutrition including glycine-rich collagen peptides (or gelatin-vitamin C supplementation) in combination with adequate sleep and adjusted sports training periodization may improve ACL extracellular matrix collagen deposition homeostasis, decreasing sudden non-contact ACL rupture incidence likelihood in youth and adolescent athletes.
  5. Researchers from the School of Sport & Exercise Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University, UK, found that 10 weeks in-season soccer training with daily collagen supplementation increased patellar tendon mechanical and material properties more than soccer training alone in high-level female soccer players.
  6. A review of The Effects of Collagen Treatment in Clinical Studies found benefits including improvements in skin hydration, skin elasticity, GERD, Osteoarthritis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
  7. Results of a randomized controlled study, conducted by the Centre for Sports Science and University Sports, University of Vienna, Austria, demonstrated that combining specific collagen peptide supplementation (SCP) and concurrent training (CT) over a 12-week period significantly improved markers reflecting recovery, specifically in maximal, explosive, and reactive strength, compared to the placebo-controlled group.
  8. The findings of this 2024 integrative review, published in Nutrients Journal, provide compelling evidence that the oral administration of low molecular weight collagen peptides is both effective and beneficial for improving muscle health and function. The superior bioavailability and absorption of smaller peptides translate into more
    efficient delivery to muscle tissues, where they can exert their positive effects on muscle repair, growth, and overall performance.
  9. Researchers from the School of Sport & Exercise Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University, UK and the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health, University College London, UK demonstrated that 12 weeks’ high‐intensity resistance training with 30 g hydrolysed collagen supplementation augments patellar tendon CSA, stiffness and Young’s modulus more than resistance training alone. These findings have implications for exercise, nutrition and rehabilitation prescriptions in healthy middle‐aged men.

Great taste and filling

This and the collagen are my go to's everyday. The cold brew flavor is my favorite and taste like an iced coffee without all the jitters. I like to mix with almond milk for a really unique and enjoyable taste. It really does work! The plant protein doesn't make me as heavy as other protein mixes, and it absorbs into my system quicker than whey.
